Remove China Apps is an app which is being downloaded more and more in India in order to find Chinese apps and to delete them from the mobile phone.

Remove China Apps has crossed 1 million downloads on Google Play Store. Due to the growing tension between India and China, the app has become increasingly popular on the Play Store.

The ratings of Remove China Apps on Google Play Store has been rated 4.8 stars and is one of the trending apps. The app was launched on May 17 and it has been downloaded by more than 10 lakh users till today.

This development comes at a time when there is high anti-China sentiment in the nation, ignited by the novel coronavirus pandemic, border dispute between India and China and more. 

Another app that plays on similar sentiments – Mitron – has also gained popularity over the last few days and is being hailed as an alternative to TikTok.  

The Remove China Apps creators claim the app is "developed for educational purposes" and allows users to "identify" the country of origin of certain apps that are installed on their Android phones.

But if we see the working of Remove China Apps, it is somewhat different. As the name suggests, it only detects apps created by Chinese firms, and users can uninstall them further by deleting China Apps if they wish to do so.

According to the app description which states that, “Detecting the country of origin is based on market research, but we do not guarantee right / wrong information, so users should act on its own”.

The app is free on the Google Play Store and does not require any login. Users can simply pick a "scan" on their Android phones to locate the Chinese apps.

There is one point to be noted here, Remove China Apps tends to detect only apps installed on the user’s phone from the Google Play Store or other third-party app stores, not those pre-loaded on Chinese smartphone manufacturers.

The app is being developed by OneTouch AppLabs. The company is based in Jaipur and the website of the company is being created on May 8. The company provides services in Android and iOS app development and hybrid app development.

There are various controversies happening and anti-China sentiments are high in the country and due to that several people in India are looking for alternatives of Chinese apps. 

Recently, TikTok had a poor run on the Play Store. TikTok has been downvoted to 1 star by the users. However, Google got rid of the app's more than 8 million negative reviews. The app had also been uninstalled by many users not only in India but in the whole world.

Many believe that an app called Mitron is India’s response to China’s Tik tok and the app ‘Mitron’ has crossed over 50 lakh downloads on Google Play Store.

The Remove China Apps is currently available to Android users, and there is no clarity as to whether or not iOS users will be getting this app in the future.
